Roadmap

Where NetRelish is going.

This moves when we ship, not when we promise. No dates on purpose. The changelog records what has actually landed.

Now

1.0 · Mac App Store
  • BenchWebKit browser with a tab strip and address bar. Links that open a new window or popup work
  • ShelfThe Jar rail, ⌘1–9 to switch
  • JarsProjects with a shelf life. Each Jar is its own browsing profile: separate cookies, logins, storage
  • Smart JarsBrine (Unsorted), Today, Sealed and Sinking soon fill themselves. ⌃⌘1–4
  • BrineWhere idle tabs sink after their Jar’s shelf life. Sunk pages come back where you left them: scroll position and back and forward. Pinned tabs never sink
  • SealPreserve-and-close: web archive snapshot, full-text indexed, dated
  • SearchFull-text over everything sealed, offline. Results open the saved copy
  • PanelKind, source, sealed date and labels for whatever you’re looking at
  • Reader viewThe article alone, in clean type. ⌘⇧R
  • RecipesBuilt-in Recipes that run when you Seal, like Seal & Summarize, on-device. Every Recipe is a Shortcut
  • ShortcutsCapture, seal, jump to a Jar, search
  • Share extensionCapture from Safari or any app
  • Reseal & diffProSeal a page again and see exactly what changed
  • Provenance exportProTimestamped proof that a page said what it said
  • Pro in the appBuy and restore Pro from the Mac App Store, or with a license key for the direct-download build

Next

  • Ask the PantryAnswers over what you’ve preserved, on-device
  • Your own RecipesRecord a routine and replay it with ⌘R
  • Split viewTwo pages side by side on the Bench
  • Content blockerAd blocking, on or off per Jar
  • NotesWrite notes on anything in the Pantry
  • Jar bundlesProShare a whole Jar as one file
  • Semantic searchProSearch by meaning. Unlimited Recipes, too
  • DuoiPhone companion. Capture on the phone, work on the Mac, Handoff between them
  • iCloud Drive syncBetween your own devices, for Duo. Your files, your account, never ours
  • Voice notesDictate into a Jar, transcribed on-device
  • PickleA developer Jar: local WordPress host on OrbStack (Docker later), GitHub sign-in. Direct-download build only

Later

  • Bigger modelsLarger on-device models, opt-in
  • visionOSThe Pantry as a room

Not on the roadmap

These aren’t “later.” They’re never, and the architecture depends on it.

  • Accounts
  • Cloud sync through our servers
  • Browser extensions
  • An agent that acts in your live tabs
  • Analytics SDKs in the app

Changelog

What has actually landed.

Newest first. The Mac app hasn’t had a public build yet, so everything since the rewrite sits under Unreleased until 1.0.

Unreleased
In progress for 1.0

Works in the app today

Added

  • Bench: tabs and an address bar on a native WKWebView. ⌘T for a new tab, ⌘W to close one
  • Links that open a new window or popup open as a new tab in the same Jar
  • Shelf: the Jar rail, ⌘1–9 to switch, relish tint on the active Jar
  • Jars as browsing profiles: each Jar owns its own cookies, logins and storage
  • Brine: idle tabs sink after their Jar’s shelf life, and Restore brings them back where you left them. Pinned tabs never sink
  • Capture with ⌘D, into Brine
  • Seal with ⌘S: preserve-and-close a page as a web archive snapshot, full-text indexed
  • ⌘K palette: capture, seal, jump to a Jar, find anything in your Pantry. A sealed result opens its saved copy, read only
  • The saved copy stays as it was sealed: nothing on it runs, and a link you click opens the live page in a new tab
  • Fill a form from your Me card with ⌘⇧F. The card stays in your Mac’s Keychain
  • Capture in the Shortcuts app. Seal is there too, but for now it only marks a captured page as sealed; the full Seal, with its snapshot, comes before 1.0

Still to come before 1.0

  • Smart Jars, reader view, the Panel, the Share extension, a full Seal from Shortcuts and the rest of Shortcuts
  • Built-in Recipes that run when you Seal
  • Pro: reseal & diff and provenance export
  • StoreKit 2 purchase and restore; a license key for the direct-download build
  • Sandboxing, privacy manifest and App Store review hardening

Native foundation

NetRelish moved from Tauri to native Swift for the Mac App Store.

Added

  • Xcode project (SwiftUI + AppKit), with App Store and Developer ID builds
  • Pantry storage on your Mac, with full-text search
  • The data model is generated from one design file, with no hand edits
  • Brand tokens and symbols in Swift; a debug-only Design Kit window
  • Continuous integration: both builds and the tests run on every pull request and every push to main

Removed

  • The Tauri app (kept on the legacy branch)
Legacy
Aug–Sep 2026

The Tauri app, 0.1.0–0.2.1

The first NetRelish, before the move to native Swift. 0.2.1 is the last Tauri release. It gets no more updates, and nothing installed from it upgrades into the new app. Its NetRelish account and our cloud sync were retired with it. The native app has neither, and never will: there’s no NetRelish account, and nothing syncs through our servers.

The 0.3.0 release on GitHub (October 2026) is the Zest web tools, not the Mac app.
